Life Of Architecture

Pavilion One - Material and light studies

It is amazing how modern technology allows us to visualise projects in real word simulations, tracking a typical winters day from sunrise to sunset.

A modular, lightweight, live-in pavilion located outside of George in the Southern Cape. The house is connected to the site through the exposed base it rests on and a number of scattered masonry elements. Seemingly excavated from the site these hold the pavilion perched in the landscape. These fly throughs are from studies we typically work with to develop ideas into reality.

A simple linear spatial arrangement offers views across the valley to the Outeniqua Mountain range from the master bedroom to the living room and guest suite. The interior materials at present are a combination of OSB board and burnt timber paneling to provide a mix of high to low end finishes.

A work in progress we are excited to see how this concept develops.
